Upcoming Town Halls and Member-Information Sessions on Bargaining Pathway
On August 25, OSSTF/FEESO local Presidents and Chief Negotiators voted overwhelmingly to recommend to Members a proposal that provides a pathway to resolve outstanding bargaining issues without a strike or lockout. This pathway can include the use of binding interest arbitration for any unresolved bargaining issues at the local and/or central tables and sets out a process to determine a remedy for Bill 124 for those employed by school boards across the province. OSSTF/FEESO members under theSchool Boards Collective Bargaining Actwill participate in a province-wide vote on the proposal with the vote taking place online between September 8 and 27, 2023.

Teachers and education workers continue to face mounting challenges, including ongoing attacks on the public education system by the Ford government. Cuts in the classroom often disproportionately impact racialized and equity-seeking members and students. At a time when staff and students in Ontario’s schools and universities are facing a rise in racism, discrimination, and hate, they deserve more investments in protection and support, not less. As a unified force, OSSTF/FEESO and its Members will continue to fight for a strong, well-funded public education system. We remain united against the government’s ongoing shortchanging of schools and universities, and we are strengthened by our resolve to protect and enhance public education for all. We know that investing in publicly funded education and its workforce is the best way to foster strong communities and support the best outcomes for the students we serve.
